Set-up Tips for Export: Windows 2000

Your computer may need to be configured to accept citation exports from the OhioLINK interface. Follow the steps below for EndNote, ProCite, or Reference Manager. Substitute your appropriate drive (e.g. C or D) and the appropriate version number for your software.

Set-up for EndNote in Windows 2000

• Open My Computer
• Open the Tools menu
• Select Folder Options...
• Select the File Types tab
• Highlight EndNote Import File

The settings in the lower portion of the window should be:

• Details for 'ENW' extension
• Opens with EndNote[version you have]

If this setting is correct skip to the "Advanced" section below. If "Opens with EndNote" does not appear:

• Click Change
• In the resulting menu, highlight EndNote
• Click OK
• Proceed to the "Advanced" section below

Advanced:

• Click Advanced
• Actions box should say open (if Actions box is blank, type the word "open")
• Highlight open and click Edit...
• Application used to perform action: C:\Program Files\EndNote\EndNote5.exe

• Check the box: Confirm open after download
• Check the box: Always show extension

Set-up for ProCite in Windows 2000

• Open My Computer
• Open the Tools menu
• Select Folder Options...
• Select the File Types tab
• Highlight RIS Formatted File (RM8)

The settings in the lower portion of the window should be:

• Details for 'RIS-RM8' extension
• Opens with ProCite for Windows

If this setting is correct skip to the "Advanced" section below. If "Opens with ProCite for Windows" does not appear:

• Click Change
• In the resulting menu, highlight ProCite for Windows
• Click OK
• Proceed to the "Advanced" section below

Advanced:

• Click Advanced
• Actions box should say open (if Actions box is blank, type the word "open")
• Highlight open and click Edit…
• Application used to perform action: C:\Program Files\Common Files\RISXTD\Risweb32.exe "%1"

• Check the box: Confirm open after download
• Check the box: Always show extension

Set-up for Reference Manager in Windows 2000

• Open My Computer
• Open the Tools menu
• Select Folder Options...
• Select the File Types tab
• Highlight RIS Formatted File (RM8)

The settings in the lower portion of the window should be:

• Details for 'RIS-RM8' extension
• Opens with Reference Manager Application

If this setting is correct skip to the "Advanced" section below. If "Opens with Reference Manager Application" does not appear:

• Click Change
• In the resulting menu, highlight Reference Manager Application
• Click OK
• Proceed to the "Advanced" section below

Advanced:

• Click Advanced
• Actions box should say open (if Actions box is blank, type the word "open")
• Highlight open and click Edit…
• Application used to perform: C:\Program Files\Common Files\RISXTD\Risweb32.exe "%1"

• Check the box: Confirm open after download
• Check the box: Always show extension
